NEF2027 - VISION & PURPOSE

NEF is a convening space for everyone who envisions a socially and ecologically just economy. It is a space for those who are actively trying to create just economies in their lives, communities, and businesses by expanding and unfolding human potential and development. We realize that change grows stronger when we learn from each other and act together. We seek to create coherence among all actors in this convening space and in the broader ecosystem for a holistic transformation of the economic system that includes the culture and the mindset.

We envision a world where,

  1. The purpose and the mission of the economy is to serve the well-being of the people and the planet. 
  2. Every human and non-human being has the right to live with dignity and safety, supported by communities and systems that equitably deliver what each needs to prosper.
  3. Every human being can live with purpose and contentment.
  4. Human activities are regenerative (non-extractive), functioning in harmony with the planetary and social boundaries.
  5. Wealth, power, and opportunities are distributed fairly (not concentrated)
  6. Communities and people are connected in solidarity and seek to build the world we strive for by promoting the interests of the whole rather than the parts.
  7.  Our systems learn to serve the well-being of all life and steward the planetary foundations that make life possible.
  8. Human Development and the unfolding of potential is prioritized by all organizations and institutions.

 

The purpose of this convening space is to: 

  1. Serve for the systemic economic transformation rooted in ecological and social justice.
  2. Facilitates the building of a more coherent and aligned movement across the broader “next economies” field.
  3. Acts as a catalyst for applied and shared outcomes—collaborative structures, projects, strategies, and commitments—that extend well beyond the event.
